Utilizing a charitable remainder trust is an excellent opportunity for individuals to participate in Baptist ministries, while retaining an income stream from the gifted property either during their lifetime or a term of years.
Remainder trusts can be funded with almost any asset. Use of certain assets, such as highly appreciated stock, offers advantages that can be beneficial to the donor. Upon the income beneficiary's death or the end of a specified term of years (not to exceed 20), remainder trusts terminate and the remaining trust assets go to support charities designated by the donor. For BFT to serve as trustee of a remainder trust, a majority of the charitable remainder beneficiaries must be Baptist.
